Footnote 11: Commercial interactive fictions largely do not utilize the annotation features of hypermedia; interactors cannot add text or images to Afternoon or Myst, for example. The ability to denote bookmarks (similar to the "save" feature in text interactive fiction) is another textual interaction, and sometimes clicking will execute a complex script in order to determine where to go, rather than following a simple fixed link. Still, following links is the foundation for interaction with a hypertext.
