Synchrony is a DEMOPARTY that begins in NEW YORK CITY, continues on an Amtrak train, and concludes in MONTREAL.

Synchrony is about being creative with computers, and seeing how computers can produce amazing sorts of animation, graphics, music, and other experiences. At the end we have COMPOS (competitions) that are voted on by those who are there at the party. Some people may work on their entries for these compos for months beforehand; some, just on the train ride up. People are welcome to enter remotely, even if they are unable to attend.

We encourage work on today’s computers and older computers. (And you don’t have to restrict yourself to the Commodore 64, if you use an old computer.) As is usually the case in the demoscene and with demoparties, we build on the positive force of constructive, old-school hacking, encouraging deep engagement with how computers function. This can mean programming them at low levels, for instance, and being aware of how soundchips and character sets work.

We believe this type of creative engagement should be undertaken by everybody, and we have developed competition categories to welcome a diverse group of people and invite all of you to produce radical, exciting work.

Synchrony est un DEMOPARTY qui s’amorce dans la ville de NEW YORK, se poursuit sur un train Amtrak, et se conclut à MONTRÉAL.

Synchrony est l’occasion de se montrer créatif avec les ordinateurs, et de voir comment les ordinateurs peuvent produire toutes sortes d’animations, de graphismes, de musiques et d’autres expériences extraordinaires. À la fin se déroulent les COMPOS (compétitions) où les gens du party peuvent voter. Certains participants pourraient avoir travaillé sur leur proposition en vue des compétitions depuis quelques mois; d’autres, seulement sur le train en route vers Montréal. Les participants peuvent joindre les compétitions à distance, même si ils ou elles ne peuvent y assister.

Nous encourageons les participant.e.s à travailler sur les ordinateurs contemporains ou les ordinateurs d’une autre époque. (Et ne vous sentez pas obligé.e.s de vous limiter au Commodore 64, si vous utilisez un vieil ordinateur.) Comme le veut la tradition de la demoscene et des demoparties, nous construisons sur la bonne vielle force du hacking et encourageons un investissement approfondi avec le fonctionnement des ordinateurs. Par exemple, ceci peut signifier programmer ces derniers au niveau le plus profond, et de se montrer attentif.ve aux opérations des puces sonores ou des jeux de caractères intégrés.

Nous croyons que ce type d’investissement créatif devrait être entrepris par tout le monde, avons développé des catégories compétitives qui se veulent accueillantes pour une variété d’individus, et vous invitons tous et toutes à produire des créations radicales et excitantes.
