Texas: Federico Cura

Borges' writing holds a special place in my heart because he is good and because he is Argentine. Texas also holds a special place in my heart. When I saw a poem by Borges about Texas, I was hooked. If you ever have the immense pleasure to visit Argentina, make sure you visit the countryside of the Pampas. It may be there that Borges' words "the infinite field where the solitary yell dies" will resonate in your mind. Texas has this type of terrain within its borders and it is not easy to miss the resemblance. Borges lives on; He dwells in every sentiment his poetry arises in each one of us. I am a journalism student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I grew up in Buenos Aires. The fact that you, the reader, may take time to read my translation of Borges enlivens me.
