It was excellent and even more outrageous in its overall plan and in several of its parts. At the same time, I did really like how the destiny of the poets and the poetry movement were chronicled in The Savage Detectives. There are some really authentic and amazing voices in there.

Where parts of Savages Detectives stretched my patience, I thought 2666 was mindblowingly good, even when it was horribly oppressive — such as the cataloging in clinical detail of many murders. He really hit his stride in 2666 — it is a major contribution to world literature.
